A 7:02am departure from Denver, CO with a tempurature of 13 degrees F. Arrived in San Jose, CR six hours later (brief layover in Houston) to a very nice 82 degrees F and blue skies. We had an interesting ride to the Peace Lodge which is about an hour from the airport. What everyone says about CR roads is very true..potholes everywhere. Cars really take a beating from the road conditions. Glad our driver knew what he was doing.
The Peace Lodge is a a very beautiful place. We´re at 5300 feet in a rain forest. Totally surrounded by Mother Nature. Besides the over the top rooms, an excellent restuarant and superior staff, this place has it´s own wildlife preserve. Numerous birds and animals that have been rescued by Costa Rican officials are sent here for safe keeping. We´ve only seen one third of the grounds and about half of the rescued wildlife. Today we plan on hiking the rest of it and tomorrow visiting the Poaz Volcano. Check out their website for more info.
I haven´t figured out how to get pictures from my cellphone onto this blog but plan on working on it. Please bear with me. Photos taken on my other cameras will be shared when we return.
